Heinz Pistoll, age 96, Inverness, died June 20, 2014, under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Citrus County. Heinz was born in Germany on March 2, 1918, to Hans Paul and Linda (Haak) Pistoll. He emigrated to America with his parents at age 8 and made his life here. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force and Army during World War II. Heinz and his wife, Ellen, lived in Florida for over 20 years, initially as winter residents from Washington state, but more recently as permanent residents of Inverness. sustaining solutions, such as solar power and family farming. He often wrote letters to newspapers and local and national politicians on such issues.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Ellen; sons Carl Silski, Ohio; Larry Pistoll, Washington; Lynn Pistoll, New Zealand; daughter Linda Tuttle, Washington: eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration and tribute to Heinz's life will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Citrus County.
