The Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Frances L. Carr, age 93, of Inverness, FL will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Mrs. Carr was born in Rogers, Texas on June 29, 1921 to Lillie Belle Walker Ward and William Andrew Ward in a family with three brothers and three sisters. She died on Friday, July 11, 2014 in Inverness. Mrs. Carr graduated from Rogers High School, in Rogers, TX and completed two years of college at Texas Wesleyan College, Ft Worth, TX. She then enlisted in the US Army Air Corps (WAC) in early 1944 and made CPL while assigned to the 557th AAF Base Unit, Gore Field, Great Falls, MT where she served until her honorable discharge when the war ended in 1945. She was the beloved wife for 68 years to Robert W. Carr Jr. (deceased) who was also assigned to the 557th. They were married in January 1946 in Wyandotte, Michigan. In 1951 she and her husband started a family photography business the Royal Arts Studio in Wyandotte, Michigan until they retired in 1985. She participated in many civic organizations including her favorite the Soroptimist Club of Wyandotte. She and her husband were avid golfers who loved to golf together and she accomplished a hole-in-one at the age of 85.
Frances, as part of the "Greatest Generation", represented a typical hard working, loving and dedicated wife, business partner, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who gave back to her country and community. She was never a person to complain and never had a cross word with anyone. She was the mother of Robert W. Carr III and the late Richard H. Carr and was the cherished grandmother of Richard H. Carr Jr., Joli (Carr) Jones, Mathew M. Carr, Benjamin F. Carr, Bonnie (Carr) Ashby, Rebecca (Carr) Schwartz, and great grandmother of 12.
