Ozelle Head, 98, of Homosassa, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at the Citrus Memorial hospital Hospice Unit in Inverness, Florida. |
Mrs. Head was born in Clermont, Georgia. She moved to Homosassa 16 years ago from Marietta, Georgia. For the past four years, she has been lovingly cared for by the staff at Sunflower Springs Assisted Living Facility, Sugarmill Manor Assisted Living Facility and finally Superior Residence Assisted Living Facility.
She was an executive secretary at the North American Mission Board, and retired in 1978 with 15 years of service. Mrs. Head was a member of the Crystal River First Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir, and was honored in 2010 for having sung in a church choir for over 83 years.
Mrs. Head was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John B. Head. She is survived by two daughters, Andrea Pirkle (Mrs. David A.) and Beverly Howard (Mrs. Michael A.), both of Homosassa. She has four grandchildren, David Pirkle, Lara Beiter, Britt Howard and Michael Howard Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Crystal River First Baptist Church. The family will begin receiving guests at 2:30 p.m.
She will be returned to Smyrna, Georgia, where funeral services will be under the direction of Carmichael Funeral Home 707-435-4467. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4. The family will receive guests at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, in Smyrna, Georgia, following the service.
