Effie Luvenia Myrick, 89, of Floral City, died suddenly Nov. 29, 2012 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. A native of Colquitt, Ga., she was born Jan. 13, 1923 to the late Willie and Bertha (Nixon) McCalvin and came to this area in 1970 from Dover, Fla. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed watching her favorite television shows and crocheting.

She is survived by five daughters, Christine Murray and husband Charles of Pinellas Park; Kathleen Williamson and husband Mike of Floral City; Shirley Campbell and husband Bill of Floral City; Diane Waller and husband Alan of Istachatta; Debbie Waller and husband Richard of Floral City; her nephew whom she raised as a son, Richard Story of Pennsylvania; one brother, Billy McCalvin; 18 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marion Myrick, Sept. 9, 2011, a brother, Clarence McCalvin, four sisters, Wilma Edmonds, Irene Cox, Pauline Widner, and Belle Clark.
Effie's life will be remembered at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Mr. Charles Murray officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery of Istachatta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the hour of service on Sunday.
