Essie Mae Peters, 99, of Inverness, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 in Inverness.

She was born Sept. 23, 1913, in St. Catherine, Fla. Mrs.Peters was a homemaker and a 62-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Floral City.
She is survived by her daughters, Belva (Don) Giddens of Clermont, Ga; Arlene White of Leesburg, Fla., Neva (Ron) DuPree of Lake Wales, Fla., and Doretha (Joe) Strickland of Bushnell, Fla.; brothers, Hugh Hawkins of Bushnell, Fla., and Donald Lee Hawkins of Durant, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rickey Taylor presiding. Interment will follow at New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery in Istachatta, Fla.
