Edna Mae Abbott, 89, of Owosso, Mich., passed away March 31, 2013. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Church of the Nazarene, Hernando, Fla. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Owosso Church of the Nazarene in Owosso, Mich., with viewing from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Nelson-House Funeral Home.

Edna was born March 8, 1924 in Industry, Pa., the daughter of the Rev. Lawrence and Ethel (Whittington) Neff. She lived in Pennsylvania where her father pastored before moving to Michigan in 1937. She attended high school and college at Owosso Bible College and then graduated with a teaching degree from Central Michigan University. She was a member of the Owosso Wesleyan Church and M.A.R.S.P. She met Herbert Abbott in Lansing, Mich., where her father was pastoring. They were married in Lansing June 28, 1952, and enjoyed over 60 years of marriage. Edna loved serving the Lord and was faithful to her local church. She enjoyed teaching, serving others, and hosting dinners for family and friends. She was loved by many in the community especially by the students she taught throughout the years in the Owosso Public Schools. In retirement, Herb and Edna Mae resided in Hernando.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert; daughters, Sharon (Rev. Gary) Voss of Winter Haven, Marcia (Rev. Mark) Green of Belle, W.Va., and Karen (Greg) Bontrager of Owosso; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, the Rev. Larry (Pat) Neff of Hernando. Edna is predeceased by her parents the Rev. and Mrs. L. R. Neff.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Christian Academy of Mozambique, grades 1 through 12; checks may be made payable to One Mission Society.
