Mr. Andrew G. Smith Jr., 95, of Lecanto, Fla., died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in Lecanto. He was born June 5, 1917, in Atlanta, Ga., son of the late Andrew and Helen (Hudson) Smith. Mr. Smith was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was the assistant base commander at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Base, where he retired with the rank of colonel. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps he attended Emory University Law School where he earned his masters degree and went on to practice as an attorney. He was the oldest living Marine in Citrus County.
Survivors include daughter, Kathleen A. Christian of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Andrew G. Smith III and his wife Cindy Smith of Hernando; and five grandchildren.
Inurnment will take place at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Va., at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family at Arrangements by the Beverly Hills Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
