Gerald V. Peacock, DVM, 88, of Tavares, Fla., passed away April 24, 2013, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg. A native of Harris, Iowa, he was born June 30, 1924 to Valma and Edith (Halloway) Peacock, one of two children. Mr. Peacock moved to Lake County from Sugarmill Woods in Homosassa, where he had lived for many years. He was a retired veterinarian for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, a career that spanned 30 years, serving in the states of Iowa, Nebraska, California, Virginia and Maryland. He earned his degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Iowa in 1950. Dr. Peacock was a U.S. Navy pilot at the rank of ensign during World War II, serving aboard the USS Ticonderoga in the Pacific.

Gerald is survived by his three children, Thomas Val Peacock (Rowena), Millersville, Md., Val Edward Peacock (Margaret), Edwardsville, Ill., and Donna Davis (Kenneth), Saginaw, Minn.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 62 years, Mary Peacock, on June 22, 2010, and a sister, Lenore.
