Robert W. "Bob" Blackhall, 68, of Crystal River, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River where he was also under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. Bob was born Nov. 2, 1944, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Allen and Clara Blackhall and was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen and Ray Blackhall.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 35 years, Martha Blackhall; three daughters, Melanie Eley, Jill Turner and Kim Brisson; one son, Jim Blackhall; five grandchildren, Sierra Eley, Cody Turner, Demetrius Eley, Michael and Meagan Brisson; and one great-grandson, Jarrell Skinner.
Bob served in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1962 and after receiving his associates degree in engineering he went to work at Corning Inc. in Corning, N.Y. He retired after 36 years as a senior associate engineer in 2000. He moved to Crystal River in 2001. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4272 and West Citrus Elks Lodge 2693 both of Homosassa and the American Legion Post 0400 of Orlando. Bob enjoyed the outside, he loved to target shoot and ride his four wheeler.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Crystal River followed by a celebration of life from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the West Citrus Elks Lodge 2693 in Homosassa. In lieu of flowers the family requests that those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Hospice of Citrus County.
