Elizabeth JASPER Obituary

JASPER

Elizabeth Maria (nee Nagel), age 38, of Stonelick Twp, OH, died suddenly, Saturday, March 16, 2013. She leaves behind a devoted husband, Jim, of almost 14 years, two beautiful children, Emma, 11, and Jimmy, 6. She is also survived by her parents George and Patricia (nee Nieporte) Nagel; two sisters, Michelle Hammersmith, Kim Imwalle and Grandmother Frances Nieporte. She was a favorite Aunt to 16 nieces and nephews and friend to many. Beth had a smile that lit up the room and a personality that was the life of the party. Her Motto was, "Life is Good," and she wore a different T-shirt with that logo every day. She was always ready for an adventure, whether it was camping, fishing or hiking. She was very kind, generous and always willing to help other people. Beth was spirited and never afraid to voice her opinion. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone she met. Beth was born April 25, 1974. She attended St. Andrew grade school in Milford and graduated from Archbishop McNicholas High School in 1992. She was in the National Honor Society, played basketball, and ran Cross Country and Track. She earned her RN/BSN from the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. Beth was employed at the Jewish Hospital as an Oncology/ICU nurse on the Bone Marrow transplant unit for 13 years. She touched the lives of many patients and their families. Beth's hobbies included reading, scrapbooking, sewing and baking. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family, especially her husband and children. She volunteered at St. Louis School in Owensville as a room mother and Girl Scout leader, and helped whenever needed. Mass of Christian Burial, St. Louis Church, Owensville, Thursday, March 21, 2013, 10:30 A.M., visitation at the church, Wednesday, 5 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jasper Childrens' Education fund at any Fifth Third Bank. Evans Funeral Home serving the family. I can't believe its been over a year since you've been gone Beth. We all miss and love you so much. Jim has done a great job taking care of Emma & Jimmy. I'm sure you're so proud of all of them. Your mom and dad have really helped to take care of them. I was so happy to hear that Jim invited them to go to Myrtle Beach. I'm sure you will be with them in spirit. I will continue to pray for you and your family. Its going to be so hard going to Ohio and not spending time with you next month. I always looked forward to seeing you. Until we meet again, you will always have a special part in my heart. Love you Beth.

It has been over a year since I lost my friend and colleague, Beth. It seems like eternity since I saw her laugh, tell a story about Emma girl or Jimmy boy, or encourage someone-anyone- who was having a weak or fearful moment. She is missed by so many. No one will ever be able to replace her She was one of a kind. Life "IS" good, Beth Jasper. I wish you had been able to experience more of it.

It's now been over a year and feels like yesteday. Watching Jim and the kids over the past year has had it's ups and downs but I know they are holding strong with love, memories and eachother. Beth has been in soooo much over the year but it still saddens me that she is watching from above rather than down on here where she is so missed. Sending love and faith in her to watch carefully over her children and guide Jim's hand and heart as he walks alone~ much love to them all. We miss you Beth~

I did not know Beth but as a fellow nurse I am sure I would have been proud to work with her. The nursing community continues to be weakened through administrations heartless disregard for true angels like Beth. Any way I can help I would consider it an honor.

Beth was such a great person. I went to college with her and did many projects with her thru school. She was always so creative. I also worked with her on BMTU at Jewish. She was such a caring and loving person. I was so shocked and sad to hear she is gone. I think of her family often and pray that God will heal them and me. Heart broken for our loss.

I will never forget those late nights we shared working night shift together...sharing the stories of our lives...our families, our troubles..our just the day to day stuff. I'll never forget the support you gave me when my Mom died or the security I felt when you were working with me (because I knew no matter what the night brought we could get through it together). You taught me to find joy in the small things..and to this day I strive to be as happy as you...you are missed!

My cousin and godchild will always have a special place in my heart. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Beth was a loving daughter, wife, sister and mother. Beth you were such an inspiration to everyone who met you. I'm sure you're looking down at your mom, dad, sisters, husband and children and will give them strength to get through this pain. My prayers are with the Nagel and Jasper family. Love and miss you so much Beth.

This is Cathy Kernen, Beth's Aunt. One of our Mom's favorite stories about Beth was when Beth was in grade school out on the gym floor playing some sports event. Mom overheard her cheering herself on out loud —“Go Beth, go! You can do it! Go, Beth, go!”

The idea tickled Mom, and I thought at the time what a smart, empowering thing it was for Beth to do. How many times as women have we worried that we weren't smart enough, or wouldn't be able to do something? So from the day Mom told me about it, I started emulating Beth's self-cheers myself.

Throughout my career, when I was worried I would fail, I would say to myself (not out loud-- I never had the courage Beth had!) “You can do it, Cath! Go, Cath, go!” No matter what my job threw at me, or when I had to figure out how to come up with my daughter's college tuition, or do other seemingly impossible things, I cheered myself on. And throughout my life I pretty much succeeded.

We all loved Beth. She was so welcoming and warm, was so smart, and absolutely loved her family but somehow still had tons of caring left for all of us and her patients. She could be really funny, with a dry sense of humor. She was so proud and supportive of Emma Girl and Jimmy Boy. She adapted and rose to any occasion, no matter what life threw at her. I always felt that she was fearless too. I can't imagine her being intimidated by anyone, no matter how rich or powerful. And most of all she was a good, good person.

Beth touched me forever, just as she has touched everyone she met. Ever since Beth's death, as I wake up each morning, I remember Beth. And just as she inspired me throughout my career, I am now using the memory of Beth as my inspiration. I put her picture up on my computer to help me through any work assignment that comes my way. And you know all those things we say we are going to do, and the lifestyle changes we keep saying we will make, but we put off—well, I'm using the memory of Beth to motivate me to stick to my Weight Watchers program and do all the other stuff I put off. Because now I can hear her voice, not mine, saying, “Go, Aunt Cathy, go! You can do it!”

Only time will slowly blunt the pain of losing Beth that everyone in our families feel. But I hope it helps to know that because of Beth, the world is absolutely a better place. And none of us will ever forget her.

I was so terribly saddened to learn of Beth's passing. I have known her since we were kids playing soccer together. I was blessed to have worked with her on the BMU, and she was the first smiling face I saw my first day there. I will always remember her smiling face and her kind, friendly spirit. She was so endearing and loved to share pictures and stories of her beloved family. You guys were the light of her life and her whole heart as she shared her love for you guys with all of us. My prayers to Beth's family for God's peace and His enduring strength during this time.

Beth, Special is the word that best describes you, Special is a word that is used to describle something one-of-a-kind like a hug or a sunset or a person who spreads love with a smile or kind gesture. "Special" describes people who act from the heart and keep in mind the hearts of others. "Special" applies to something that is admired and precious and which can never be replaced. "Special" is the word that best describes YOU!!! Please keep the Jasper & Nagel family in our prays. and please watch over Emma & Jimmie while they grow and know their mother was very very Special.

I worked with Beth at Jewish Hospital from 2001-2004. I remember being a new nurse on the BMTU, and she was always so kind and helpful to me. I remember when she was pregnant with her daughter Emma, and the excitement she had about being a Mom. When I got the call that Beth has passed, my heart sank. Gone too soon, but never forgotten!!

To The Jasper family I am so sorry for the loss of your dearly beloved Beth. I was a patient at Jewish hospital and Beth was the first Jewish Angel I met (I call them all Jewish angels). She was my rock in my time of need. She held my hand through that first scary night in ICU. She comfort my husband and family and reassured them that I would be just fine. I can't that you all enough for sharing her with all the patients on the BMT unit. Beth will for ever live in my heart and soul. May God bless and keep you all during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of Beth. Beth was a wonderful nurse, although I did not personally know her well, I knew Her when she cared for my brother who was a patient of hers about a year ago. Beth was sweet and professional, she provided great care and made it much easier for us to leave our brother at night because we knew when she was his nurse he was getting great care. She often spoke of her family - especially of how much she loved her 2 kids, being a room mom, and supporting them in sports. Please know our prayers are with you. Sincerely. Kim Neff.
