Mary Miller COLE(1924 - 2013)


Mary Miller, a resident of the Deupree Community in Hyde Park, passed away October 8. Mary was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio April 9, 1924 to Samuel Gael Miller and Grace Cost Miller. She moved to Springfield, Ohio where she graduated from high school then received her bachelor's degree at Ohio State University. She married Richard T. Cole (her husband of 56 years), and they moved to Springfield upon his completion of law school. While they raised a family, Mary received a master's degree in education from Wright State University and pursued a career teaching in the Springfield City School system for over 20 years, eventually focusing on education for gifted students and working in an advisory position for Wittenberg University in the student teacher program. Mary became a resident of Cincinnati where she lived for 15 years and was active in Friends of the Library and charity work at Christ Church Cathedral. She was a proponent of numerous other community and social organizations, as well as a supporter and contributor to a variety of national causes. She is preceded in death by her husband, and daughter Sarah Cole. Survivors include sons Dick (Joanne) of Gold Hill, CO, Jim (Polly) and Dave (Angie) of Cincinnati, and daughter Nancy (Tom) Nangle of Longmont, CO, as well as granddaughters, nieces and nephews. Donations in her honor are suggested for the , National Multiple Sclerosis Society or The . A memorial service is pending. Gwen Mooney Funeral Home-Elden Good Chapel in charge of arrangements.
