Peter AUGSBURGER(1930 - 2012)



AUGSBURGER

Peter W. Age 82, died unexpectedly Wednesday December 20, 2012 while doing one of his favorite activities, working out at the Cincinnati Sports Club. He was born in Chicago and blessed with exceptional athletic ability. He excelled in sports in high school, University of Maryland, the Air Force and Senior Olympics. He played and won in three bowl games during his collegiate time at University of Maryland, twice in the Gator Bowl and once in the Poinsettia Bowl and had two offers to play professional football. He was hired by ALCOA out of college and retired as President of Industrial Extrusions, Inc. He was a man of honor and deep faith, sometimes called the gentle giant. An avid gardener and golfer, he had a strong bass voice and sang for many years in the Rotary Club Choir. He and his wife loved to travel the world. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy and three children; Kurt Augsburger (Cincinnati), Cynthia McCann (Westford, MA) and Linda Morris (Tahoe City, CA), his step children Ryan Reeder, Randy Reeder and Robyn Claibourne, 8 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 2 great step grandchildren and his dear dog "Angel." He has been cremated. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales Church, 1600 Madison Road, Saturday December 29 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his favorite charities: Boys Town, St. Vincent de Paul or the S.P.C.A.
