Randolph N. "Randy" WILKINSON III


Randolph "Randy" N., III, beloved husband of Elizabeth "Penny" Wilkinson (née Summer) for 53 years. Father of Brad Wilkinson, Katie (Shane) Heekin, and Sarah Wilkinson. Devoted grandfather of Colin, Luke, and Ryan Heekin. Brother of Jane Spicer of Lewisburg, WV. Born in Huntington, WV, he graduated from Western Hills High School in 1952. After being awarded a full academic scholarship, Randy earned his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1956 at Yale University where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi honorary society. He completed his Masters in Industrial Management from the Sloan School at MIT in 1958. Randy worked in research and product development for Procter & Gamble from 1958 until his retirement in 1996 as a Director. Among career highlights were International Division assignments, including a transfer to Canada for two years, the award of a patent, and the creation of the Victor Mills Society to honor top research innovators. A member of the University Club of Cincinnati, the Sanctuary Golf and Country Club on Sanibel, and the Captiva Island Yacht Club on Captiva Island, Randy continued to pursue his lifelong passions for reading, bridge, exercise, and classical music. As a board member of the Cincinnati Natural History Museum, he was president of the Children's Museum, facilitating its move to the Museum Center at Union Terminal in Cincinnati. More recently, Randy served as chair of the classical music committee at BIG ARTS on Sanibel as well as the BIG ARTS classical music scholarship committee. Randy died February 22, 2014 due to complications from Multiple Myeloma. The memorial service will be private.
