Dear Stuart, Carol and Diane:
I have many many fond memories of your father on his visits to East Liverpool. He was so kind to me when I had my surgeries as a child. He also was very kind to me after my dad died in 1974. Dad always told us the story of how his mother came to this country. Our grandfather Tobin met the train everyday because he did not know what train Grandmother Rachel would arrive on. She of course didn't speak English but someone had pinned a sign on her with the name of where she was going. Your dad as I remember it was born in Newell across the river from East Liverpool. I can still hear our fathers sitting in the room we called the library when Uncle Harry came to visit. They would stay up late and talk and talk of old times. My deepest sympathy at your loss. You had your father so many wonderful years. I have often wished that I had an opportunity to know my father as an adult. May all your memories help you through these hard days. I would have loved to come to the funeral but am unable to clear my calendar. My sympathy,
Rachel Tobin-Smith
