Wilbert Longmire Obituary
Wilbert Thomas Longmire passed January 3, 2018. There will be a Musical Tribute held in his honor with visitation from 5:30 to 8:30pm on Friday January12th at New Prospect Baptist Church located at 1580 Summit Road. Visitation Saturday at 9:00am at New Prospect and the service will follow. Interment at Walnut Hills Cemetery. Arrangements by McCall Funeral Home. 513.6.McCall. 513.662.2255.

Wilbert was a great mentor to my two sons and did his best to inspire them to be musicians. My kids have fond memories of him tickling the ivories for them in hopes that they wanted to follow his lead... Heaven got a new "star" and he can know commune with my aunt and his grade school teacher, Bessie Cooper- Noble.

I heard his hit record this week and thought about how much I like it and him. I heard another artist's cover of the record, on the station here in Des Moines, IA. I knew Wilbert a long time. I knew him from his visits to his girlfriend who lived in the projects, the Lincoln Courts, where I lived. He would come through usually with his guitar and a smile. I saw him again when we worked for WCIN on Reading Road. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and many, many supporters and friends.

Hey Sharon Carmen Wilbert Jr Tony Linda an all the rest of the family, May God comfort y'all an answer all your prayers. MR LONGMIRE was an exceptional man cause he lived an loved life. From his early years in the West End ,to buying all us kids in y'all court ice cream on a hot summer day. That was one if the best days I remember living in the Fay. He played his music with such grace an it was so cool. I was so amazed how cool it sounded an I will always play his albums to remind me of the good times with my friends in the Fay. He was one of few daddy's who we admired, looked up 2 ,and he had a gift to make us laugh when we squabble over a kickball game in the court. He was one of the many Heroes we had n the Fay that was a great success as a musical artist, as a dad, as a friend. REST N HEAVENLY PEACE Mr Longmire. U made a difference in our lives an you left us with your beautiful music to always jam 2.
