Edward "Ed" Flournoy Spiller, 76, passed away at his home in Cincinnati on December 26, 2014. Born in Brady, Texas on November 15, 1938, to Wayne and Nell Spiller, Ed grew up on a family ranch in Voca, Texas. Following a stint in the U.S. Army, Ed would go on to earn both his Bachelor's and Master's of Business Administration degrees from the University of Texas. Ed would hold various business management positions throughout his career, primarily in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area until retiring from Moraine Materials in 2005. Ed raised two children, Caroline and Scott, and was very active in the early days of the Clifton Track Club in which he was able to be with others who pursued one of his greatest passions, running. In the 1980's, Ed began pursuing another passion of his, Bluegrass Music, by becoming an early weekend morning DJ at WAIF FM. Eventually he would spend many years at WNKU FM until he stepped down in 2000. Ed is survived by his wife, Cristi Boone, of Cincinnati; brother Roger Spiller and wife Charlene, of Akron; daughter Caroline Ryan and husband David of Wellesley, Mass; son Scott Spiller and wife Katy, of Fort Collins, Co; grandchildren John and Chris Ryan, Knox and Wade Spiller; stepchildren, Marc Boone of Frankfurt, Germany, Edward Boone of Cincinnati, Deborah Boone of Geneva, Illinois and Jack Martin Boone of Cincinnati along with their families; step-grandchildren Justin Zachary, Brody and Charley Boone; and the families of nieces Suzanne Willian, Sherilyn Fahlstrom and Stephanie Daniels. A celebration of Ed's life will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014, from 2-5 PM, at the Reception Center at the Gwen Mooney Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati.
