Herbert, age 87, passed away January 23, 2012, beloved husband of Bess Paper, devoted father of Susan & Israel Teretz of Israel & James J. & Victoria Paper of Queens, NY, dear brother of Esther & Norman Gelman of Potomac, MD, loving grandfather of Danny(Noa), Uri(Inbal), Tamar & Asaf Teretz & Hanna Rose Paper, great grandfather of Yiftach & Lior Teretz, also survived by many loving nieces, nephews & cousins. Services Weil Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Rd. Thursday, Jan. 26, 11:00 A.M. Visitation begins at 10:15 A.M. Friends may call on the family at Cedar Village following the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Cedar Village Hospice, Hadassah or Hebrew Union College would be appreciated. Weilfuneralhome.com

Dear Bess and Family,
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my teacher and friend. I was one of a very few (if not only) rabbinic students at HUC-JIR to do my thesis with Herb. Whenever I "redn a bissel Yiddish," he is always in my thoughts.
