OSTERHUS

James L. 78, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2013. Jim was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 9, 1935.

He was the beloved husband of Caryl Osterhus for 55 years. Jim is survived by his wife, his four children, Dr. Thomas Osterhus (Laurie) of Cincinnati, Linda Fite (Mike) of Cincinnati, John Osterhus (Dawn) of Chicago, IL, and Dr. David Osterhus (Krista) of Kingsport, TN, his brother, Robert Osterhus of New York City, and his six grandchildren, Lindsay, Leigh, Jill, Amanda, Jackson and Piper Osterhus.

Jim graduated from the University of Minnesota, where he was the President of the All University Congress, with a mechanical engineering degree. He earned an MBA from Xavier University. Jim worked as an engineering executive with Procter & Gamble for 37 years, managing the cost engineering function for the Paper Division. He supervised the installation of the first Pampers lines in the world in Cheboygan, MI. He later supervised the installation of the P&G paper plant in Albany, GA.

Jim and his wife started and owned Woodfield Enterprises, owning and managing over 160 apartments and townhouses in Cincinnati.

Jim served his country as a First Lieutenant in the Army with the 101st Airborne stationed at Fort Campbell, KY.

He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church for 25 years and then with Wyoming Presbyterian Church for 30 years, where he served as an elder, trustee, treasurer, choir member, and chairman of the Every Member Canvas raising funds for the church. In his retirement he spent many hours serving the church as a volunteer carpenter.

Jim was a member of the English Speaking Union of Cincinnati and the Travel Club of Cincinnati. He was an avid skier for 70 years and he enjoyed sharing his love of the sport with others, annually teaching skiing to the Boy Scouts at Northminster Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service followed by a luncheon will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 am at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, located at 225 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, OH 45215. Interment Spring Grove Cemetery.

Memorial gifts can be made to Wyoming Presbyterian Church, Twin Lakes Benevolent Fund, or Twin Lakes Pastoral Care Fund.
