Joan was the loving mother of Robert Oarl, who passed away at the age of forty; Melissa Doswell of Mobile, Alabama with two children, Jazmine & Chelsea; Jennifer Hamp of Houston, Texas with five children, Joshua, Danielle (with granddaughter Kaylin), Faith, and twins, Chad & Heidi; and Bruce Holbert of Dallas, Georgia with two children, Jonah and Emmye. She is survived by her half-sister Nellie Trigger of Pasadena, Maryland. Joan was employed by Showe Management Corp, Columbus, Ohio for 21 years as the regional property manager in the Cincinnati-Dayton area holding all Property Management Certificates plus Ohio Real Estate license. During her husband's employment with the G. C. Murphy Company, she volunteered at the hospitals in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, & Ashland, Kentucky. She was later employed with the hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Joan was a true lover of the Canine family. She was a trainer in Obedience and Confirmation and showed Australian terriers while winning a wall full of trophies and ribbons. Later in life she fell in love with Therapy Dog Training and became an instructor and examiner for graduation of therapy dogs as to be able to enter hospitals to bring joy to patients. She was an active member & officer of the Clermont County Dog Training Club for many years. Joan was a convert of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints along with her husband and children while living in Annapolis, MD and was an active member holding many positions from Sunday school teacher to Relief Society President. Due to her husband's employment, she lived as far west as Texas, as far south as Jacksonville, Florida, and as far north as Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
