EBERLE

Lee Christian Eberle, 7/6/1952-8/20/2012. Chris died unexpectedly in Portland on August 20, 2012. His family and friends will miss his love, his supportive friendship, his boyish sense of humor, and his appreciation of design and beauty. Chris was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Lee and Virginia Eberle. He graduated from Cincinnati Country Day School in 1970, attended Kenyon College, and then received a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, and Architecture in 1977. In 1978, Chris moved to Portland, Oregon. There he began a rewarding and successful career in the practice of architecture. His professional practice included residential and commercial design, and interior architecture. He had a particular passion for and commitment to working with community action agencies in Oregon to address the conditions of poverty in the state. He played a groundbreaking design and consulting role in many affordable housing projects and community development facilities projects throughout northwest Oregon. Chris was an active member and leader in the American Institute of Architects, with a particular interest in legislative affairs. Chris is survived by his daughter, Clare Dwyer Eberle, his wife, Marianne Dwyer, his mother Virginia Eberle and grandmother Margaret McClure Buchanan of Cincinnati, Ohio, his brothers and sisters, Kurt Eberle, Karen Eberle, and Guy Eberle, their spouses, and their children. His family and his many dear friends deeply mourn his loss. A memorial service will be held this fall in Portland, Oregon. Remembrances may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
