Earl (Abe) born Feb. 1, 1924, passed away Wed., Feb. 19, 2014 at the age of 90 after a long illness at The Burlington House where he lived for the past 4 1/2 years. There he received wonderful care and made more friends. Earl graduated from Taylor High School in 1942, where due to his honesty he was nicknamed ABE. The name stuck and from then on he was known by friends and relatives as Abe. He served in the Army from 1943-1946. He was stationed in Alaska where he worked as a fireman. He served on council in Addyston, OH for many years where he was born and lived most of his life. He retired from General Motors in 1980. As a result of his love of horse racing he met his good friend Phil Ehsminger also known as "Fish," who was a horse groomer. Together they traveled to many race tracks. Earl was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Nellie (Miller) Newberry, his one brother Benjamin and 4 sisters Julia Newberry Smith, Nina Newberry Dietrich, Helen Newberry Oehler, and Bertha Newberry Whittier. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by them and so many friends he made during his trip through life. We will miss you Earl (Abe) with your big heart, your beautiful white hair and your wiggly ears. A service will be held at a future date to be announced.
