Virginia, of Bethany, Oklahoma, and formerly a longtime resident of Norwood, died peacefully Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the age of 99. "Ginny" was preceded in death by husbands George Monfort and Charles Leucht, and by her beloved grandson John Griffis. She is survived by daughter Marilyn (Jay) Griffis of Bethany and son Bob (Suzanne) Monfort of Alexandria, Kentucky; grandchildren Dawn (Mark) Williams, David Monfort, and Ashley (Josh) Bruce; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Ginny was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, and formerly of the First Church of the Nazarene in Norwood. She had worked as a school crossing guard in Norwood, and also for numerous Norwood businesses, including some that will be remembered only by old-timers, such as Norwood Fruit Market and Serodino's Pharmacy. For decades she was a "regular" at the Country Kitchen restaurant in Norwood, where she was a friend to all. A memorial service will be held at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany, Oklahoma on Thursday, April 24, at 10:30 A.M. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org, in honor of great-great-granddaughter Emma Williams, who, by the grace of God, has survived and thrived.
