Madeline Paige Ellingsworth, born September 17, 1997, in Normal, IL became God's angel on April 28, 2014. She was the cherished princess of David and Julie (Kane) Ellingsworth and a beloved sister to Brody Ellingsworth. She is survived by her grandparents, Joseph and Nancy Kane, Fred and Jeannie Bieneman, and Chuck and Sally Ellingsworth; her aunts and uncles Greg and Angela Kane, Steve and Shannon Kane, Ric Ellingsworth, David and Jennifer (Bieneman) Gillespie, and Tom Bieneman; and six cousins. She possessed strength and courage unknown to most as she battled the debilitating effects of her rare genetic disorder, Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T). Undeterred by what she could no longer do, she maintained a sense of hope and optimism that inspired us all. In her early days, she danced ballet, played soccer, rode horses, and swam like a fish. As her disorder progressed and her once-loved abilities were lost, she always maintained a positive outlook on life. She had a sunny disposition and a smile that lit up the room. Even in her darkest days, she could be found comforting those around her who were struggling to make sense of it all. She loved the water, the calmness of a beach, and the sand between her toes. She loved animals, especially her dog and faithful companion, Max, who never left her side. She was genuine, kind, thoughtful and caring. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for her witty one-liners. She loved to play jokes on people, and became well known for doing so by her educators at Van Buren School and the oncology staff at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. She enjoyed telling stories and educating people about A-T. She was a fun and loyal friend, a beloved sister, and an amazing daughter. She taught us the true meaning of life and changed our outlook forever. We were truly blessed to have her in our lives, and she will be forever missed.
