Anna Belle Wright Johnson, age 81 of Maineville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2014, after a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on January 19 ,1933, at home in Mt. Crawford, Virginia to the late Roy Clarence Wright and Geraldine Lena Slaybaugh Wright. Ann is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Louis Milar of Maineville, Ohio, her brother, Richard Cleveland Wright of Mt. Crawford, children David Scott Johnson, and Judith Ann Johnson Lawrence of Seattle, Karen Sue Johnson of Cincinnati, grandchildren Andrew John Lawrence, Anneli Linnea Johnson, Claire Elizabeth Lawrence Gowdy, and great-granddaughter Eloise Clementine Gowdy. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Paul Jennings Wright, and sister Dorothy Jane Wright Simmons. She grew up on the family farm in Mt. Crawford, attended high school there, and pursued music studies at Bridgewater College, where she met her first husband, Dr. William Raymond Johnson of Mt. Sidney, Virginia. After marrying in 1953, they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, raising their children there. Ann loved to sing, and performed with The Cincinnati Music Theatre. She subsequently earned a Master's degree in English from Xavier University, and taught in the Mariemont School District for many years. In 1979, Ann married James Louis Milar of Cincinnati, then resided in Maineville, and Ankara, Turkey. Ann loved to garden, travel, entertain, and enjoyed genealogy, music, arts and the theater. Her strength, loving spirit, sense of style, artistic flair, and joie de vivre will be remembered by all who met her. She and Jim were longtime members of Hyde Park Community Methodist Church where a Memorial Service will be held this September. Service details will be forthcoming at a later date. The family wishes to thank Crossroads Hospice for their dedication to easing the journey from this life to the next.
