David A. BENEDETTI Obituary

David A. Benedetti, 61, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 following a long, heroic struggle with cancer. David was a Columbus, OH native moving to Cincinnati to attend Xavier University in 1969. After graduating XU (MBA cum laude 1973) David made the community of Deer Park his home with his mother, Mary Adele; sister, Ann (Frank); brothers, Mark (Lori) and Michael (Marsha); and nieces and nephews: Marguerite (Steve), Drew, Rebecca, Danny, Vinny, Tony and Michael. Throughout his adult life, David quietly focused his energy, knowledge and talents on supporting all ages in the community. He served youth as a little league football and soccer coach. He was a grocer for 35 years with more than 25 years of interacting with friends and neighbors among the aisles of the Dillonvale IGA. He always remembered the sick and the elderly with regular visits to nursing homes. David was a close friend and counselor to many who asked his assistance in preparing income tax returns. This often led to helping them resolve other financial concerns. He championed justice for those going through hard times … single parents, the elderly, anyone who called upon him for help, struggling with the challenges of daily living. David was a ticket taker at Great American Ball Park and held the Cincinnati Reds organization, and especially Bob Castellini, in highest regard. He loved baseball and never missed an opportunity to tout the Reds as a pro-family, positive influence in our community. David held members of St. Saviour Parish as brothers and sisters. When called upon, he served fellow parishioners individually or in total by performing a number of volunteer roles for more than 43 years. David was an avid proponent of square dancing. No activity was more enjoyable than being with members of his local club Venus and Mars where he served as Treasurer for eight years. David lived quietly and served mightily. The needs of others he always placed above his own. He was a loyal, trustworthy son, brother, uncle and friend committed to family values all of his days. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 9th, 8:30 a.m. at St. Saviour Church, 4118 Myrtle Ave., Cincinnati, 45236, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. and burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Saviour Parish, 4136 Myrtle Ave., Cincinnati, OH, 45236. Contributions made in David's name will assist the needy in the community where David served others his entire adult life. On-line condolences at
