Mary DUPEE Obituary

DUPEE

Mary Katherine Ousley "Kay" Dupee Naples, FL. Kay Dupee was born on July 28, 1920 in Memphis, TN, and died on November 4, 2012 in Naples, FL. She was the oldest child of Harold Paul (HP) and Mary Katherine Ousley. Of six siblings, sisters Louise and Cynthia and brother Steve survive her. Kay is the mother of four children: Debbie, who preceded her in death; daughter Dougie (Tom Trumble); and sons Dave (Meg) and Dan (Carol). She has nine grandchildren: Lindsay Lockard (Tim), Laura Fay (Ryan), Erin Kelleher (Bill), David (Alison), Sarah, Jack, Spencer, Eliza and Annie. Kay lived to celebrate the birth of six great-grandchildren: Bella, Noah, David, Owen, Jacob and Bria. After attending Vassar College, Kay was married for 67 years to her beloved husband David B. Dupee before his passing on November 18, 2008. Dave and Kay met in their thenhometown of Freeport IL; their wedding invitations went in the mail on Saturday, December 6, 1941, the day before Pearl Harbor was bombed.

Stationed at various airbases during World War II, the Dupees eventually settled in Cincinnati, OH, where they raised their family and started a business, Olsten Staffing Services of Cincinnati. In addition to helping Olsten begin, Kay bought and renovated older homes with "good bones" and great views of the Cincinnati skyline. She had artistic talent and became a collector of contemporary and outsider art pieces. Together, she and Dave were life-long lovers of traditional jazz. Kay and Dave eventually settled in Naples, where they became enthusiastic supporters of Habitat for Humanity and good friends to many in the community. In the words of her daughter Dougie and her husband Dave, Kay was a woman with a "talent for living." Her "joy de vivre" lives on most of all in her family, each of whom carries his or her own wonderful memories. None of us has ever had to doubt her love for us. Now we commend her to rest in Jesus' arms. To quote her favorite hymn: "just a closer walk with thee, grant it Jesus is my plea." Kay's family will host a memorial service and reception at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday November 21 at the Glenview, Pelican Bay, Naples. Donations in Kay's honor can be made to the Glenview Scholarship Fund, c/o The Community Foundation of Collier County, 2400 Tamiami Trail North, #300, Naples, FL 34103; and the Coalition for Christian Outreach, 5912 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. Hi Dave, Dan and Dougie,
We were sorry to hear about your mother's passing on. We all have such great memories of growing up in Clifton, going to church and school together. Our parents did a wonderful job with all of us.
May your memories keep you during this time of grieving.

Grammy K
You will be missed very much. The time I got to share with you although not as much as I would of liked, was always memorable. The impact you had on me and my family is not explainable in words. The life lessons you shared are ones that I will cherish and most certainly pass along to my children. Thank you of everything you have done and some how I know will continue to do.

Love, Ryan
