DOUGHMAN

Richard "Dick" Clayton, age 90, of South Lebanon, Ohio. died on Monday, November 12, 2012. Born in, and a lifetime resident of South Lebanon, He was the beloved son of Clayton Brown Doughman and Josephine (White) Doughman. He is survived by his loving wife, Beulah (Ledford), of 70 yrs, and 3 sons: Gary K. Doughman (Diane) of Madison, WI., Richard C. Doughman II (Susan) of Chagrin Falls, OH, and William C. Doughman (Sherry) of Clarksville, TN. Two Sisters, Viola Smith of South Lebanon and Verla Vaun Collier Stenstrom of Fairfield, OH, also survive him. Nine adoring grandchildren include Beth Vogele (Jerry), Scott (Renee), Lalita, Jyothi, Kristen, Richard III, Devon, Jenna, and Grant. In addition, he was proud of 7 great grandchildren: George, Tyler, Kayla, Sara, Kurt, Cameron and Sequoia. Dick attended South Lebanon Elementary for 8 yrs and graduated from Kings Mills High School in 1940 as Valedictorian of his class, winning several academic awards. He served his country in the United States Army from 1942-45. After several yrs of employment in various industrial Jobs he served as South Lebanon's first letter carrier, a position he held continuously for 22 yrs. Dick served on the Kings Mills School Board for 2 decades, on the South Lebanon School Board as Clerk-Treasurer from 1986-91, and an elected member of the South Lebanon village council from 1999 until his retirement in 2007. Many friends and neighbors know Richard through his many activities which include mushroom hunter, trapper, gardener, baseball and softball player. umpire, fisherman, bird hunter, euchre savant and knothole league founder in the community. Services will be held at the Stine-Kilburn Funeral Home in Lebanon, Ohio. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 6-8 pm with the funeral service at 11 am on November 15th. Burial will be at the Fellowship cemetery afterwards.
