Luella, born April 22, 1919. Died Saturday, November 10, 2012 - St. Margaret Hall . Aunt Lu lived almost her entire life in Reading, Ohio. Born at home in 1919, she lived in a small house on Mechanic St for 80 years, then resided another ten years in a nearby apartment. Luella Marie Hof was a beloved daughter of the late August and Clara (nee Hinrichs) Hof, devoted sister of the late Arthur, Marcella, Bernadette (Lester) Nickley, Florence, Frank (Ruth), and James (Dorothy) Hof. She worked at the Millcreek Valley News for many years, played tennis, gardened, traveled extensively. When able, she attended daily Mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She shared her time and treasures with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She seemed to know every member of the entire family tree. Visiting her house was like coming home. Her kitchen always held the aroma of good coffee and baking cakes and cookies. Aunt Lu's Christmas cookies were a family legend. Luella Hof possessed wisdom and common sense beyond her high school diploma. She was generous and charitable though she never possessed great monetary wealth. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Visitation, Thursday, November 15 from 5-7 PM at Schmidt-Dhonau-Kucner Funeral Home, 8633 Reading Road, in Reading. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, November 16 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 177 Siebenthaler Avenue, in Reading. Burial Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Condolences schmidtdhonaukucner.com
