Bernard J. Haynes, 90, of Willow Street, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Willow Valley's Lakeside. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Fryburger Haynes. Born in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of Bernard A. and Thelma R. Haynes. He served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II, and attained the rank and position of drill sergeant. A lifelong resident and supporter of Cincinnati, Bernard retired from the Stearns and Foster Mattress Company, where he worked for 35 years. With his wife, he was an avid collector of minerals and gemstones, and later, of early mining artifacts and memorabilia. After his move to Willow Valley, he became an ardent fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. He is survived by his daughter Susan Hirsch of Dayton, OH; his daughter Cynthia and his son-in-law David DiSavino of Lancaster, and his granddaughters Jennifer Hirsch of Chicago and Katherine DiSavino of New York City.
