Nicholas Sr., died peacefully Tues., May 21, 2013 at the age of 83 yrs, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of 53 yrs to Dolores, devoted father to Nicholas, Mark (d), Christine, Sophia, Thomas and Anthony (Sherri); Loving Grandfather of Demitra, Nina and Gregory; Dear youngest brother of Tess, Angelo, Merry and survived by Peter. Nicholas was a physiology and biophysics educator, researcher and noted author for over 50 years. With notable accomplishments at Case Western Reserve, University of Virginia, as Chairman of the Physiology and Biophysics department at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and most recently as Professor Emeritus. His most recent accomplishment was the release of his 4th edition of the Cell Physiology textbook in 2012. Born in Joliet, IL March 3, 1930, to James and Aristea (Kayaidakis). A proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, he received his BS, MS and PhD in Physiology from the University of Illinois. A devoted patron of animal welfare and nature conservancy. As per his wishes, a private service was held for immediate family.
