On behalf of my classmates in the Yale Class of 1964, I extend condolences to Charles' widow, Gretchen, his family, and his friends. Charles had many friends in our Class and will be missed. We mourn his passing and will remember him on our Class Website (www.yale64.org), in the July-August 2015 issue of Yale Alumni Magazine, and at a memorial service on campus during our 55th reunion in May 2019. In addition, I am sure that many classmates will read/re-read the wonderful essay Charles wrote in our 50th Reunion Class Book. Anthony M. Lavely, Class Secretary

Gretchen, Graham, and Seth,

So sorry for your lost. I have known you and your family now for around 63 years from your days at Deckbar School to our children attending St. Andrews together. I have known Charlie since the late'70 or early '80. We had good and not so good times together. My thoughts are with you during this sad time. Think of the good times and memories as you go into the future.

Thinking of you.

To the Bosworth Family,
Charlie was a vital part of the Hollygrove-Dixon Neighborhood Association. He care for the community of which he realized that he and his family was a part of. As a leader, he led by example, compassion and determination for the issue(s) at hand. He will truly be missed. I'm glad that I got an opportunity to meet and know him. May you find peace in knowing that he positively touched lives. After all, that is the duty of each and everyone of us. I pray that God will comfort you at this time.

Gretchen, Seems such a short time ago that you and Charlie so graciously opened your home to host a gathering for our 50th class reunion. It was the only time I got to meet Charlie and I'm sure my impression was the same as for all who knew him --so many interests, so many good works, so many stories, and so easy to be with.
I wish I could be there tomorrow to give you a hug. Do know that Nina and I have you and your family in our thoughts.

Charlie taught me to love baseball. During the years when our sons played for Ben Franklin, and Gretchen kept the stats, Charlie called the games from the stands, and in the process taught us so much about the game he loved. I found myself sneaking away from work on spring afternoons to experience the games. What a presence Charlie was! I feel lucky to have known him and his absolutely charming and wonderful family.

My wife first met Charlie about 1975 in Covington LA through Latter and Blum Reality. She immediately felt he was someone we could trust and have as a friend. I have never met him personally but had many long phone discussions on investments (I was always smart enough to take his advice) interrupted by even longer discussions on history. We only got a hint recently that he was ill from Gail Dillenger This was a surprise.
Please know that Joan and I have you in our thoughts and prayers at this unhappy time. I only wish I could have spent hours in his company discussing history over a glass of Scotch

I was deeply saddened to learn of Charlie's passing. We served together on Xavier Prep's Board and it was a pleasure to know and work with him. He was a man of many talents and he will be greatly missed not only by you, his family, but by the community he loved and served. You are in the thoughts and prayers of all who knew him and and appreciated his efforts to improve our community.
