Ammons
Marshall - Gladys Ponder Ammons, 95 of East Fork Road passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Rev. Dearl Ammons and daughter of the late Rev. R. D. and Mae Ponder Ponder. She was also preceded in death by sisters; Estelle, Florence, Ollie, Oakla and Vertie, brothers; Judd and Yates Ponder. Gladys was a member of Peeks Chapel Baptist Church and a member of the N.C. Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Ammons was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a retired school teacher, having taught at Beech Glen, Ebbs Chapel, Center School, Mars Hill and Ira B. Jones.
She is survived by a niece which she thought of as a daughter, Dianne Maney and several other nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. The Rev. Stanley Peek and Rev. H. L. Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

I loved Gladys while I was attending Peeks Chapel. She was a wonderful lady and could really make a great pound cake. I know everyone will miss her.
