William "Bill" Mullins
Alexander - Sergeant Major William Lee Mullins, U.S. Army Retired, 70, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Rockcastle County, KY, he had lived in Buncombe County the past 30 years. He retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of proudly serving his country and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He also was an ROTC Instructor for a number of years at Owen High School.
Mr. Mullins was a son of the late John and Effie Mullins.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Joy Justice Mullins of the home; son, Vernon Thomas Reese, II and wife Jeanna of Asheville; daughter, Leslie Yaung and husband Joe of Hendersonville; granddaughter, Ariana Yaung, the love of Papa's life; sisters, Patricia Miller of Mosley, VA and Phyllis Thompson of Clarksville, TN; brothers, Bobby Mullins of Dryden, VA and Ray Mullins of Big Stone Gap, VA.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. John Warren officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
