Asheville, NC - Vance Mae Miller, 81, a native of Avon (Kinnakeet), NC passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in Asheville, NC.
Mr. Miller was born May 30, 1931 in Avon, NC to the late Columbus and Alziria Miller. Vance served 26 years and 3 months in the United States Coast Guard, he also retired after 18 years from the State of NC Hatteras Ferry Division. Vance enjoyed growing a garden and sharing his increase. His greatest joy was serving the Lord. Vance was a faithful member at Harvest Time Assembly and he loved the Lord with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by family and church family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon and Ray Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Miller; daughter, Sandy McClaren; sister, Beatrice Miller Dixon and many nephews and nieces.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 19th at Harvest Time Assembly with Pastor Darrell McClaren officiating. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the service. A Gravside Service with Military Honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in memory of Vance M. Miller to Harvest Time Assembly, PO Box 1807, Asheville, NC 28802.
