Patricia Ann Carter Asheville, NC - Patricia Anne Dillingham Carter, 76, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 21, 2015. Patricia is preceded in death by her loving parents, Locke and Ruby Dillingham; sisters, Wanda Anders, Velda Wilson, Brenda Rash, Ila Meadows; brother, Clay Dillingham. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Burnette Carter; sons, Gary Carter, Michael Carter and James Carter and his wife, Angela, all of Asheville; brother, Jimmie Dillingham his wife, Miriam, of Asheville; grandchildren, Jessica Vella, Trent Carter, Garrett Carter and Jamie Carter; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Angela for all your selfless care. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 3 PM - 5 PM at Lake Hills Church in Candler. Gray, Lavinda - Asheville  
Lavida (Penny) Ann Fullwood Gray Asheville - Mrs. Lavida (Penny) Ann Fullwood Gray, 71, was born February 16, 1944 in Bristol, Virginia to the late James and Louise Fullwood. She passed away on May 21, 2015 at the John F. Keever Solace Center, Asheville, NC. She grew up in Bristol, VA where she attended Douglas High School. After High School she attended Nursing School earning her LPN nursing degree. Once this goal had been reached, Lavida and her husband Barney Gray moved to Asheville, NC. Mrs. Gray is preceded in death by her parents, James C. and Mary (Ludy) Fullwood; husband, Barney Gray; and sister, Sarah. Mrs. Gray is survived by her sister, Jimmie Carter; daughters, Bonita P. Owens (Stan), Brenda K. Hicks (Glynn); grandchildren, Loyita D. Sayers, Lonita C. Moran, Nyasia L. Green. Kevin Logan, Kyri L. Logan, Kimani A. Hicks; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom are from Asheville, NC. Last but not least, Mrs. Gray is survived by her loving companion, Chance. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Gray will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Oteen Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Interment will be immediately following at the WNC Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain NC. The Family of Mrs. Gray will be receiving friends and family at the home of Mrs. Bonita Owens, 12 Euclid Blvd, Asheville, NC 28806. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the John F. Keever Solace Center 21 Belvedere Road, Asheville or the Oteen Baptist Church, 37 Oteen Church Road, Asheville, NC 28805. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart Funeral Service.

Hayes, Harvey - Mills River  
Harvey Hayes Mills River - Harvey Lee Hayes, 79, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. Mr. Hayes was born in Buncombe County to the late Herbert "H.D." Hayes and Mary Morrison Hayes. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Johnny Lance. Harvey was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Korean Conflict. He loved his family and friends dearly and was an avid fisherman. He retired from Schwitzer and Taylor Instruments as a tool maker. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Barnwell Hayes; two daughters, Carolyn Ballinger and her husband, Randy and Linda Lance; two sisters, Cynthia Knight and her husband, Gordon, and Pat Banks and her husband, Calvin; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many claimed grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Fletcher First Baptist Church with Pastors Roy Waldroup and David Gentry officiating. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
