Black Mountain - Bolivar "Boli" Augusto Muentes, 94, of Lake Eden Rd., Black Mountain, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the NC State Veteran's Home.

A native of Manta, Ecuador, he was a son of the late Manuel Antonio and Betsave Calderon Muentes. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mr. Muentes was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII. He worked as a chief purser of cargo passenger ships. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Kiwanis Club, and the VFW. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eva Susanne Palm Muentes; a daughter, Julie Muentes Ciccarello and husband Anthony of Jeanette, PA; son Bolivar David Muentes and wife Anne of Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren Matthew Steven Ciccarello, Marlayna Elizabeth Muentes, Michael Anthony Ciccarello, Daniel Joseph Ciccarello, and Jessica Margret Ciccarello; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd., with the Rev. Dr. Joe Babb and the Rev. Fr. Matthew Leonard officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
