Fairview - Charles William "Bill" Jordan, 93, of Sugar Hollow Rd., Fairview, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the VA Medical Center, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

He was a much loved and respected man and will be deeply missed. He touched all with his kindness who were fortunate to have met him.

A native of Pittsboro, NC, he was a son of the late Charles James and Etta Fields Jordan. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Jane Travis.

Mr. Jordan was a veteran of the US Army in World War II serving in the 2nd armored division reverently known as the "Hell on Wheels" division.

Mr. Jordan moved his family from Goldsboro to Hendersonville and operated Jordan Office Equipment for many years before settling in Fairview. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Jordan is survived by his wife, Evelyn Huntley Jordan; daughters Rebecca Holbert, Carol Shumbera, and Betty Butler, all of Fairview; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; and brothers Gene (G.B.) Jordan of Raleigh, and Walter Jordan of Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. Ronald Roberts and Jim Whitted officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
