Delmar Harold Ponder

Mars Hill - Delmar Harold Ponder 77, of Mars Hill passed away Friday, July 3, 2013 after an extended illness. He was a native of Madison County and a son of the late William Albert and Pauline Phillips Ponder. He was a retired college teacher, Industrial Engineer and a life member of Bald Creek Masonic Lodge 397AF & AM. Harold was a graduate of Mars Hill College and Western Carolina University and a US Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Chambers Ponder, sons; Dr. Michael Ponder (Carolyn) of Johnson City, TN., Delmar Harold (Del) Ponder II (Dawn) of Cary, N. C., daughter, Joy Ponder (Craig) of Weaverville, N. C., six grandchildren; Jayne, Michael H, Laurelyn, Madison Rachel and Bryson and Oliver, brother, retired Army Col. Steve Ponder (Mary Kay) of Arizona, nephews; William and Stephen.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church. Reverends Doctor Harry Culbertson and Glen Graves will officiate. Bald Creek Masonic Lodge 397AF & AM will conduct masonic services. The lodge will open Saturday at 9:30 AM. The family will receive friends following the service.
