Earle "Doc" Wise

Marshall - Earle "Doc" Wise passed away peacefully on the morning of December 1, 2012.

Earle was born on March 14, 1933 in Newland, NC to Otis and Ellen Wise. Earle was a graduate of Berea College and retired from the North Carolina Extension Service where he served as director. Earle was a charter member of the Madison County Lions Club and served on many boards including French Broad EMC and the Soil and Water Conservation District.

Mr. Wise is also preceded in death by his son, Warren Wise; and brothers, Ben and Milton Wise.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nan Wise; daughters, Faith Ashe and husband, Terry, of Marshall, Maria Wise and husband, Jeremy Waldrop, of Asheville; grandchildren, Joshua Ashe and his wife, Crystal, of Gunnison, CO, Samantha, Ruby and Caitlin Ashe and Zeb Waldrop; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom and Lowell Wise; sisters, Roberta Aldridge, Gay Franklin, Leota Coffey and Phyllis Blackburn; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Through his warm sense of humor and dry wit he touched the lives of many people in Madison County and beyond. Earle enjoyed conversation, friends, going fishing and taking care of his cattle. He loved children, church and NC State. Earle also loved traveling and meeting new people. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Marshall Presbyterian Church.
