Asheville - Ed Ramsey, 94, died Sunday, December 02, 2012 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. Ramsey was the son of the late Lee Ramsey and Ada Rice Ramsey. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Wyatt Ramsey; sister, Blanche and brothers Ralph, Walter, Warren, Charles, Frank and Lane.
Ed was born in Madison County. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II
. Upon his return, he worked at French Broad Chevrolet, Parkland Chevrolet, Apple Tree Chevrolet and retired from Matthews Ford. He was a long time member of Newbridge Baptist Church and loved his Luther Rice Sunday School class.
Surviving are his daughters, JoNeil McFee and husband, David and Sheila Dail and husband, Bill, all of Asheville; four grandchildren, Greg McFee and wife, Lorie, Amanda Queen and husband, Todd, and Kelly and Caroline Parker; great grandchildren, Annie and Lilly McFee; and Landon Queen,
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday at Newbridge Baptist Church with the Reverend Clark Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee Ramsey Cemetery in Marshall. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the church. Graveside military rites to be provided by Mars Hill VFW
Although flowers are welcome, Ed was always a giving person and would have appreciated donations to Meals on Wheels, Care Partners Hospice or Newbridge Baptist Church.
