Ernest Rayburn Chambers

Weaverville - Ernest Rayburn Chambers, 78, of Chambers Road, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born to Emilo and Fern Clinton Chambers October 31, 1934 he was a graduate of Flat Creek High School and retired from the Mars Hill location of Micro Switch after more than twenty years of service. He enjoyed gardening and Southern Gospel Music.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Ballard Chambers of the home; two daughters, Teresa (Rich) Willis and Karen (Dwayne) Dills, both of Weaverville; and son, David Chambers of Florida. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Eryn Willis, Allison Dills and Chris Dills; sister, Doris Chambers Lunsford; and brother, Cameron Chambers, all of Weaverville. He also leaves behind many other friends and relatives whose lives were truly changed by his influence.

The driving desire in his life was to always do the right thing, without regard for recognition or reward. This example is one that his loved ones will strive to emulate.

The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Michael Black at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Salem United Methodist Church where Mr. Chambers was a faithful member. Burial will follow at Clarks Chapel cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
