Flonnie Huskins Wilson
Marble, NC - Flonnie Huskins Wilson, age 90, of Marble, NC passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 in the Murphy Medical Center.
She was born on October 9, 1922 to Robert (Bob) and Artie Almond Huskins in Cherokee County, NC. Flonnie retired from Owenby Manufacturing Company in Andrews where she was able to use her expert sewing skills. During WWII, she worked building B-29 aircraft at Lockheed in Marietta, GA. She enjoyed gardening, homemaking, and quilting. She will always be remembered for her famous lemon pies and coconut cakes. Flonnie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marble, NC.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Roy Wilson; five brothers, George Huskins, Roscoe Huskins, Robert Lee Huskins and Vincent Huskins, Raleigh Huskins and infant sister, Lelia.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Wilson Arrowood and husband Mitchell Arrowood of Murphy; granddaughter, Althea Arrowood Weber and husband Mark Weber of Spokane, WA; grandson, Roarke Wilson Arrowood of Murphy; three great granddaughters, Amaranth Brunner of Chapel Hill, NC, Reilly Weber and Bailey Weber of Spokane, WA; two sisters, Opal Key of Marietta, GA and Mary Pearl Morgan of Melborne, FL; sisters-in-law, Betty Lovingood of Brasstown and June West of Marble, NC; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Fred Lunsford and Rev. Carroll Roper will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Marble, NC. Pallbearers will be Greg Huskins, Keith Huskins, Marvin Huskins, Charles Huskins, Danny Wilson and Bill Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Safrit, Paul Vaught, Jr., Bill Brock, Lawrence (Poe) Huskins, Steve Huskins, Dennis Key, Larry Huskins, Randall Huskins, Warren Huskins and Travis Huskins.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Roy J. Wilson Family Scholarship, Peachtree School, 30 Upper Peachtree Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
