FRANK H. FOSTER

ATHENS, GA - Frank H. Foster, 92, of Athens, GA passed away Monday, February 4, 2013.

A native of Asheville, NC, Mr. Foster was the son of the late Harlie and Susie Foster and was preceded in death by his wife, of 69 years, Virginia Foster. Mr. Foster served in the United States Air Corp during World War II and the Korean Conflict. During World War II he was a member of the 373rd Bombardment Squadron with the 11th Bombardment group. Mr. Foster flew 27 combat missions during World War II and logged 217 hours of combat time. He earned the rank of Captain and several medals during his 11 year career including, an American Theater Service Medal, a World War II Victory Campaign Medal, an Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, an Overseas Service Ribbon, and a Distinguished Unit Badge. Following military service, Mr. Foster had a lengthy career with the Federal Aviation Administration and retired in 1973.

Survivors include son, Frank Foster Jr. and his wife, Diane; daughter, Sharon Virginia Pye and her husband, Ray; grandson, Austin Pye; granddaughter, Terrie Foster Clark and husband, Kelly and great-granddaughter, Julia Mann.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, February 7th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Talmage Terrace Library, 801 Riverhill Dr, Athens, GA 30606.
