OLD FORT - Grace Willet Roberts, 82, of Old Fort, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. Mrs. Roberts was born in Buncombe County on November 12, 1930 and was a daughter of the late Jay Van Willet and Martha Clark Willet. She was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church and was an avid churchgoer. She loved her church family very much. She was a homemaker and won several awards for her community service work. Mrs. Roberts was selected Citizen of the Year in 1995-1996. She was a Hospice Patient Volunteer and volunteered for Meals on Wheels with the McDowell Senior Center. She had a love for needlework and cross-stitch and liked to work puzzles and cook. Preceding Mrs. Roberts in death was her first husband, Harry J. Morris and her second husband, Wayne Roberts.

Left to cherish Mrs. Roberts memory are three children, Michael Morris of Swannanoa, Jeff Morris and wife, Margaret, of Black Mountain and Arlene Owenby and husband, Cecil, also of Black Mountain; one brother, Pat Willet and wife, Juanita, of Black Mountain; one sister, Mary Ann Hall of Maggie Valley; two grandsons, Jason Morris and wife, Amy, and Joe Morris and wife, Sue; one great granddaughter, Ariel Morris and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Page officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service, at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
