Harley Joe Kincaid, Sr.
Asheville, NC - Harley Kincaid, Sr, age 97 of Murphy, NC passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Laurels of Green Ridge Nursing Home in Asheville, NC.
He was born August 19, 1915 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Douglas and Viola Kincaid. Harley was the oldest of six children. He was a WWII
veteran who served in Germany. Harley worked for many years at the Mauney Drug Store in Murphy. After retirement, he worked with the Forest Service. Harley was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Texana where he served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher and Superintendent. He also sang in the choir.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth McDonald Kincaid in 2008.
He leaves behind a son, Harley Joe Kincaid, Jr. of Asheville, NC and three step-children and their families: Harry Fair and wife Corrine of Asheville, NC, Vallie Bowman and family of Asheville, NC and Dorothy Mack and Sinclair of Dover, Delaware; other relatives include: sister, Hazel Smith of Florida; sister-in-law, Annie Jean Kincaid of Chattanooga, TN; niece, Gwen Kincaid and Derec Kincaid of Murphy, NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends left to mourn his loss.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. John Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Murphy, NC.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
