Jeanne Gilmore

ASHEVILLE - Jeanne Louise Baumann Gilmore, 67, died December 27, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center.

She was a native of Asheville, NC. During her early years, Jeanne and her family lived with her grandparents, the late Myrtle McGee and James B. McIntosh of Asheville, whom she loved. Her parents were the late Hurley McIntosh and Charles N. Baumann of Asheville.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Susan, James, and David Baumann. Her sister, Mrs. William L Lewis, lives in Hubert, NC. Jeanne is survived by two daughters, Lelania Gilmore Porter and Kevin and Chandra Gilmore and her husband, Adam Olenik. She was a wonderful mother and friend to her children. They were her life. Both girls will take her ashes to the ocean.

Jeanne is also survived by her aunt, Gayle Kincaid of Asheville and her uncle, John L. McIntosh of Florida; a niece, Cindy Ritter; three nephews, John Kincaid, Sergio Spitaleri and Chris Bell; her beloved friend and mother-in-law, Ruth Gilmore of Johnstown, PA; and her cat, Ophelia.

Jeanne's father-in-law, Thomas John Gilmore, also died on December 27, only a few hours before Jeanne.

Jeanne lived for over 20 years in Johnstown, PA, so that she could rear her daughters close to their father's family.

Prior to daughter's birth, she lived close to the ocean in Florida. She loved the ocean and visited it often.

About 10 years ago she returned home to Asheville to escape the cold and snow and be close to friends .

Jeanne grew up in the First Baptist Church of Asheville , where her love for music took root under the guidance of Carl Perry. She loved to play the piano and enjoyed trips to New York to see plays and visit the city.

We have lost our mother, aunt, sister, and best friend, but we will never lose the memory of her sweet smile or gentle ways, or of our love for her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Care Partners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
