JOANN GARRISON JOYNER

THORN HILL, TN - Joann was born on July 13, 1946, and met her maker on November 11, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Joyner; parents, James Garrison Sr., and Mildred Garrison; and sister, Betty Platt. Surviving are her sister, Joy (and Mike) Sanford of Indian Trail, N.C.; and brother, James (and Judy) Garrison of Thorn Hill, Tenn. Also surviving, 3 stepchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that loved her like a mother. A graduate of Enka High, JoAnn grew up in Asheville and, after 30 years of service at Bell South, retired in Thorn Hill, Tenn. She loved the "farm" life- tending to her 8 horses and 3 dogs, whom she called her babies, coffee breaks with her brother, gardening and riding her gator. A wonderful artist, beautiful penmanship, loving and caring lady, who gave most of her worldly possessions to those she felt were in need. Compassion and love of God is how this free spirit should be remembered. JoJo you will be missed. There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, November 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Abernathey United Methodist Church, Patton Avenue, Asheville. All friends and family are welcome and encouraged to attend.
