Asheville - Linda Garland Nichols of Asheville was cured of ovarian cancer when she passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at her home. She left this life for heaven to thank Jesus for her cure.
A native of Buncombe County, she was daughter of Harold Garland and the late Eleanor White Garland.
Linda taught preschool at Little Beaver Day Care and at Merrimon Christian School. She was also employed at Elizabeth's Dress Shop and was co-owner of Uptown Girl in Asheville. She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
She was the wife of Danny Nichols for the past 49 1/2 years, the mother of Penny Nichols Squires and her husband, Dwayne and the proud grandmother of twins, Eleanor and McKenzie Squires. Also surviving are her father, Harold Garland and his wife, Elizabeth and brother, John H. Garland, Jr.
A graveside service will be held 1:30 PM, Monday, November 19, 2012 at Beaverdam Baptist Churchyard followed by a memorial service in the church at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
