Asheville - Lowell Parsley, 82, of Statesville, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2013. He was a devoted Christian, and a loving example to his family, church, and friends.
Mr. Parsley was born November 13, 1930 in Borderland, WV, to the late Edward Lee and Vina Maynard Parsley. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Chester, Blaine, Clifford, Edward, and William (Bill) Parsley, and by three sisters, Cora Heineman, June Torres, and Patsy Porter.
He was a graduate of Chattaroy High School, and worked at Statesville Plywood. He was a member of the Living Water Assembly of God Church of Statesville.
Mr. Parsley is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rosemary Johnson Parsley; daughters Amy Parsley Allen and husband Dale, and Julie Parsley Kolodzik and husband Matt; grandchildren Cayleigh and Jacob Kolodzik; sister Mildred Parsley Nicholas; and sister-in-law Peggy Parsley.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. A memorial service will then follow at 2:30 p.m. at West Asheville Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Kent Smith officiating.
Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at Green Hills Cemetery.
