Richard David Cagle
Selma - Richard David Cagle, age 66, died late Friday night at his home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born August 28, 1946 in Buncombe County he was a son of the late Henry W. and Lillian Ownbey Cagle. Mr. Cagle was a member of American Legion Post 405 in Pine Level, Woodmen of the World, and Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also named Legionnaire of the year for Post 405 in 2010 and was Post Commander from 2011-2012. Mr. Cagle is preceded in death by his brother, Carroll R. Cagle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the cemetery of Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church in Asheville.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Gail Stubbs Cagle of the home; son, Michael D. Cagle of Selma; Andrea Cagle Phillips and husband Richard W. of Wake Forest; brother, Coy H. Cagle and wife Judy of Asheville; sister, Judy Cagle McKinney and husband Everette of Asheville; grandchildren, Matthew Phillips, Nathan Phillips, and Emma Phillips.
